Growing up fast!

It's amazing that it's been a month since Lily was born. In some ways it feels like she's been with us for a long time and in other ways it's hart to believe it's been a month already!
We had a special visitor this weekend - Lily and I got to meet cousin Ethan for the first time. It was fun getting the babies together! I'm sure the three cousins will be quite a crew once they are bigger!
Lily is growing like a weed. She went to the doctor last week and when they weighed her she was almost 10 pounds! She gained over a pound in a half in less than 2 weeks!! The funny thing is that as big as she is, she's still smaller than Jay was when he was born. She's a pretty good baby - we're still working on getting the night time sleeping down. She sleeps a lot during the day and has a hard time settling down at night. Hopefully it will work itself out soon!
She's becoming much more aware of her surroundings. What she must think as her brother runs through the house screaming!! :0) Steven and I had to laugh this weekend as we were getting ready to go out - Jay was running through Lily's room yelling and laughing as we were trying to get him dressed and Lily was just snoozing in the crib. Maybe that's why she doesn't sleep well at night - it's too quiet!

Jay is becoming much more aware the Lily is here to stay and he loves it!! He is such a wonderful kid. He plays so independently and absolutely loves his sister. He talks to her and the other day I saw him cover her up with the "cogers" (i.e.: covers) as she was sleeping. He kisses on her and likes to "hold" her.

Jay still loves playing with his cars and outside. The weather has been so nice it's been great playing outside. Jay loves kicking the ball around the yard and playing in the sand box. The wagon he got for his birthday is getting lots of use!! He's certainly a little boy - rough and tumble and always getting dirty and into stuff ! It's so much fun!
It's certainly never a dull moment around our house!

Jay turns 2!

This was a big weekend in our house! Jay turned 2 on Saturday and we celebrated with a Cars birthday party. He started the day with a trip to a fishing show with Daddy. They had a great time! Later that night we had family and friends over for dinner and cup cakes. I think the cup cakes were Jay's favorite part! He even tried to share some with his sister. :0)

We finished off the night with gifts where Jay got all kinds of great things. Jay loved his wagon (Laina did too!) and still really enjoys riding in it. Yesterday, he crawled in and looked at us and said ,"Pull!" It was so cute! :0)

Sunday brought Easter and a fantastic dinner with our family. We topped our wonderful weekend off with a nice long Sunday afternoon nap. We really enjoyed spending so much time with our family this weekend!

Announcing ... Lily Erin!

On March 18th we welcomed our little Lily Erin to the world. She was just over 2 weeks early and quite a surprise. Jay, Steven, and I had all gone to Sarasota for a normal doctors appointment when the doctor sent me to Labor and Delivery to be monitored to make sure she was moving enough. While there, surpisingly I went into labor! Poor Steven & Jay were in the parking lot waiting for me to come out of the doctors office when I called to say they were sending me to L&D. They were quite shocked when I called back to say we were having a baby that day!

Everything happened very quickly after they told me I was having the baby. Steven and Jay came in and sat with me until the Southwell's arrived to pick up Jay. As soon as Steven walked in from dropping him off with the Grammy & Papa they took me to the OR. A few short minutes later Lily Erin was born weighing 8lbs, 6ozs and 20 inches long. She looked (and still does) just like Jay. If she had cooked for 2 more weeks, she would have given her big brother a run for his money in the size category! She's so tiny compared to him!

Jay loves being a big brother. He often forgets she's here but sometimes when he runs by her he stops and crouches down and says, "Hi baby sister." Too cute! He also loves to tell her, "WAKE UP!" Thankfully he hasn't been mean to her at all. He's quite a sweet big brother.

We're all doing well and enjoying being a family of four!

Welcome to our blog!

So here's my second attempt at blogging. This time I hope to do better at keeping up with it!!

We really hope you keep up with our family as we continue to grow!

All of our best!
